  • Understanding the counselling and discipline process and the requirements of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth)

  • Familiarising yourself with the termination process

  • Knowing the differences between termination with and without notice, instant dismissal and redundancy

  • Understanding the
    concepts and consequences of unfair dismissal and ‘adverse action’ claims

  • Understanding the minimum monetary and legal obligations for termination

  • Managing dismissal-related claims

  • Understanding and handling proceedings under the Fair Work Act (conciliation; conference and arbitration/hearings)

  • Being aware of your responsibilities within the processes arising from a claim by an employee
